When it comes to album-making as a serious art form, Neil Young has nothing on Gary Allan
To say that contemporary country music borrows heavily from the aesthetics of classic, soft, arena or heartland rock is definitely not the same thing as saying that today’s country acts are consciously emulating the vaunted ’60s and ’70s model of the Important Rock Artist. Part A is a reality, Part B not so much.
