You guys are gonna think I'm a weirdo but I want to see if anybody else has this problem. I am so scared to drive in the rain on the highway. Everybody makes fun of me, but they don't understand how scared I really am. Sometimes I get so scared that I'll call into work if it's raining. I called in today cause it's raining, I tried to go in but got to the highway and turned around and went back home cause it was raining so hard. If it's raining alittle bit, I can handle that but if it's pouring I won't do it.
One time it was pouring rain on my way to one of Gary's shows and I almost turned around and went back home, luckly my friend was with me and talked me through it . That was the bravest I have ever been in the rain.
I think I have this problem because when I was little me, my mom, brother, and sister got stuck driving in a hail storm. My mom said that I was only 6 months old and there is no way I could remember that but I remember it like it was yesterday. I don't know what I should do about this. I really think that I need therapy. I might end up losing my job if I call in anymore. Does anybody else have this problem? I know it's stupid, go ahead and laugh.

Not silly at all, I am also afraid to drive in the rain, But living in Oklahoma I have to at times... it sucks though because it won't be raining one minute then suddenly I am in the middle of a tornado warning.

Wow, so not silly at all. Especially after the loss of your mom- we all deal with grief in different ways, and your anxiety level is probably really up right now. So sorry to hear about your loss- you have lots of support and kind people on this board. Take Care!

It is not silly at all. I hate to drive on the highway in the pouring rain. If I have a choice I stay put until it slows down or stops. Sorry about your mom.

Nope i do not think its silly AT ALL!!! I cannot even drive on the highway when its sunny...i do OK on the easy stretches of highway but i will NOT go through a bigger city...i mapquest things to avoid highways and if it adds a couple of hours to the trip then so be it! You at least know your issues i have no idead why i am so nervous/afraid of the highways.

I don't think your weird for not wanting to drive the highway in a hard rain...I actually pulled over into a rest area coming home from Nashville...It started POURING down rain; and I don't play w/ that...It's just way toooo easy to get "thrown" by the puddles from water that doesn't have enough time to go somewhere...I was only there for maybe 10mins before car after car started pulling into the lot...Later, I was actually going "through" Louisville when a heavy semi was driving right next to the divider wall, and threw an entire WALL of water right in front of me...

But yeah, if you can't even get to work, I'd say your making "connections" your gonna have to deal with at sometime...

I hate driving in any kind of weather too. It's no fun when people don't understand.

I don't like to drive in rain, but that's because I had an accident when I was 16. My tires were basically bald and couldn't stop. So, from then on I drive pretty slow and am very cautious in the rain.

Laura,
Were you driving through the rain on Wednesday (June 10) near Louisville? We saw a ton of people pulled over. I kept on truckin', because it was still daytime and I felt that I could still see pretty well. But, the semis were flying through there.
mel
Well that makes me feel alot better knowing that I'm not the only one.

Nope...I was coming home on the 11th...It was raining really hard, and, w/ all those city lights, I was NOT a happy camper!!!
