i don't usually do this because it can be hard to keep up with everyone and what they are doing, and how they are doing, but...

my prayers go out to the evacuated families in Santa Ana and the surrounding areas in Southern California. i know several people and their families who live down there and i hope everyone is ok and that not only they are safe but all of their pets too (with out forgetting other important family members). i couldn't imagine what i would do if i lost my house and all of my possessions to a fire. i hope everyone gets back on their feet quickly after everything calms down and the fire is finally out.

i know everyone sticks together on here between birthdays, sick family memebers, and the daily grind of work...i hope anyone who would normally get on here to post~and can't because of it~is ok and well, also to all of Gary's family and friends who may be in the area.

Sad situation out there.

I am surprised the insurance industry doesn't require a flame retardant for each home. Especially those in high risk areas.

Can't remember the name of the product but there is a pretty successful product the home owner can spray on and it's good for a day or so. If it is not used in a year's time, it needs to be thrown out and a fresh supply purchased. Thought the cost was under $500. Might sound like an expensive extinguisher to have on hand yearly, but not nearly as expensive as paying for a new home/contents.

If anyone needs help for their pets---Pass this on

PERMISSION TO CROSSPOST

In the face of advancing flames, and under urgent evacuation orders,
people reach instinctively for their beloved pets, but in the rush to
leave, often forget to take the food and other provisions necessary
for their care. In order to help fill this need, Dennis Sprung,
President of the American Kennel Club, has coordinated with Susan
Sholar, President of the California Federation of Dog Clubs, to send
an immediate donation of food, collars and leashes, and crates to
help those dog owners affected by the devastating fires in southern
California.

CFODC members, and anyone else needing assistance in providing for
their pets' security and well-being as a result of these fires,
should call the California School of Dog Grooming at 1-800-949-3746,
and ask for Susan. The school, located in San Diego, is the
designated site for distribution of the donated supplies, as well as
a growing list of volunteers with offers to foster care, or with
available kennels, dog runs, RV parking spaces, spare bedrooms, sofa
beds, and the like.

The AKC and CFODC, in order to maximize their opportunity to help,
ask that you cross post this message wherever possible.

Thank you.

sad.gif We have sent a Martin Mars bomber down to help with the fires. Our company up here has 4 of them available and they have been all over the world helping to fight fires. The crew did their best to get there as quick as they could when they got the call, but as luck would have they had a midair collision with two separate birds that damaged the aircraft and it had to be repaired before it could be put into use, as soon as it touched down. It has now been fixed and has been in use since Thurs. am. It can drop 7,000 gallons of retardent or water every 15 min. and cover an area of 3 acres in one swoop. We are doing all we can do help you from up here across the border in Canada. Our thoughts and prayers are with the friends, families, and animals of everyone down there.
