My mother-in-law's been in the hospital for about a week because she was losing blood from somewhere. They did a colonoscopy on her and found a mass in her bowel which was were she was bleeding from. The doctors are pretty sure it's cancer. They did a biopsy but we haven't hear back about it yet. She had a CT scan today to see if she has anymore masses and to see if it's spread. She has to have surgery this week (don't know when yet) and we don't know if she'll need chemo or radiation treatment afterward. If everyone can say a little prayer for her speedy recovery and hope that they don't find anymore masses. Thanks, I really appreciate it.

I'm so sorry to hear of the struggles you are going through...You and your family will be in my prayers.

Thanks everyone for the prayers. Still don't know much except that she'll have surgery for sure, don't know when yet. Saw her last night and she's in good spirits. We were told the surgery will be high risk because of her age (she's 80) and the fact she's got an enlarged heart. The family has gotten together to talk about the risks and what will happen if she doesn't pull through. Sad to talk about but it needs to be done. Hubby is really worried. I keep telling him she'll pull through, she' strong and stubborn. Hopefully we'll know more tonight or tomorrow. Thanks again, it's really appreciated.

Ok, just found out she's having surgery today and that it's definately cancer. They'll be removing about a 9 inch section of her colon right where it joins the small intestine. They hope to be able to stretch the two sections together to reattch them. I'll keep everyone updated how the surgery went. Thanks.

Hey all, my mother-in-law had surgery yesterday and she's doing really well. She was actually sitting up in a chair for about 3 hours today. They didn't have to remove as much bowel as they thought they had to so no colostomy bag. There was only the one mass so they're certain they got all the cancer but they took some biopsies of the lymph nodes just to be sure. We don't think she'll need chemo or radiation thankfully. Thanks everybody for their prayers, such a relief to know she's going to be ok.

Thanks everyone! She's doing really good! Went a saw her on Sunday, she' in a continuing care place until she's ready to go home! They figure she'll be able to go home in about 4 weeks! Her poor arms are black and blue from all the blood thinner shots. They're starting to give them to her through the stomach now. But all in all she's doing really good! Thanks everyone for they prayers, we all really appreciate it.

Well, I don't know if this is a step backward for her, but she's been having trouble keeping solid food down. They put her back on an IV and now they're going to do some x-rays to see if she has a blockage somewhere. She may be in there a little longer than we all expected. That's too bad, she's been doing really good. If everyone could still say a little prayer that she'll be home soon. Thanks.
