I lost a dear friend early Monday morning due to an aneurysm. He was such a sweet soul...one of the best. Known him my whole life.

He was a big Gary fan and every time that he would come in for a beer, I would play Smoke Rings in the Dark for him. I could be wrong, but I heard that it was going to be played tomorrow at his funeral.

His viewing was tonight and a big group of people came in to celebrate his life. It's rough having reality hit. I was okay til we started talking about him. He's gone...he's really gone.

The jukebox never stopped playing and finally I got my chance to get up there and play a song. And you know what it was It was for Monte.

It was great celebrating his life tonight, but it's hard to let go

I AM SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS. IN 1986 I LOST THE BEST FRIEND I WILL EVER HAVE TO DEPRESSION AND SUICIDE. IT WAS A HARD LOSS AND I UNDERSTAND YOUR PAIN. BUT TRY TO FOCUS ON THE GOOD TIMES AND BE SO GLAD THAT YOU WERE ABLE TO HAVE THAT PERSON IN YOUR LIFE. GOD BLESS YOU AS YOU HEAL.

Sorry to hear of your loss, good friends are hard to come by. My mom passed the same way, I will never forget what we all went through, but we had to play Elvis not Gary at her funeral.

i am very sorry to hear of your loss.
unfortunately i knew just what your going through.
i lost a close friend, Guy LeDoux, he was more like a brother to me.
he got killed in a work related accident. he also had an ear for Gary Allan.
so for his birthday and anniversary all our friends get together and
remember all the laughs and good times he gave to us.
and no matter where we are we crank up "Alright Guy" and all toast to his memory!

We had a funeral dinner for him today at the club. I had to plan it. I get flustered doing something so big, but I walked in, took a deep breath, played Gary on the jukebox with Smoke Rings first of course I felt at peace.

And truthfully, I seen people at the dinner that I haven't seen since I was a child. It was a sad day, but peaceful.
