Just wanted to send some prayers for any that are prepping for the anticipated flooding. I've heard of the Northern MN area and Fargo areas but sure there are more out there. My aunt called me and my cousin of Mapleton, ND was up till 11:00 sandbagging his house Monday night. The whole neighborhood is expected to get hit. Hoping for the best and maybe they were able to do enough to stop it. So, sending prayers to everyone that may be going thru that.

Cheryl, you are so sweet for thinking of us! I personally am not in an area with any major flooding and it doesn't look like anything in my area will flood, but my heart just goes out to those in Fargo, Bismarck, Linton, Hazen, Beulah, Mapleton, and those across the Red living in MN. Bismarck has just had such a rough last two-three days. Two ice jams, one north of town and one south of town are causing massive flooding. Today they drilled wholes in the ice jam to the south and placed explosives about 2 feet down. They think they should know within 24 hours if it worked or not. They aren't touching the north one b/c that one is actually working in their favor by holding some water back. They stopped the water coming out of the Garrison Dam for the first time in its history! That right there has said alot to those of us living in ND. Then mother nature is just PMSing like crazy! Fargo gets rain, while Bismarck and Minot are in a blizzard...more snow came out basically out of nowhere today and now they are noticing a potential for another storm starting Sunday night! O'well...what really can we say or do other than do our best, hang in there, and we'll make it through. Thanks again Cheryl for starting the thread and thank you to those who have left their prayers and well wishes! We take all that we get!

Thanks for the update out there...it is bad. My husbands brother and family are in Linton and after the State Basketball Championship in Minot on Saturday nite...the boys and families all headed home and started sandbagging instead of celebrating their big win. *hugs* to all of them!!!

I read about that in the paper...while most state champs come home to signs and honking horns, those boys (who had finished their season not only as the state champs but also undefeated) came home and started sandbagging to save their town. That IMO made them true champions!
Fargo got more devestating news earlier today. The river was expected to crest at 41 feet (flood stage is 18 feet) but now is expected to crest at 43 feet. They have been scrambling for the last few days to fill enough sandbags to raise their dikes to 42 feet but will need to continue and hopefully fill enough before Saturday. They are also hoping the sandbags hold as they expect the river to stay at 43 feet anywhere from 3-7 days. Please continue to keep them in your prayers!

Well, it sure looks like the prayers and the volunteer efforts are working. It's sounding better out there. I know there is still some melting that's gonna take place but I'll keep my fingers crossed. My cousin is thankful to go back to work and have a little normal in her life. She's been sandbagging alot and did a great job. You know the really cool part is on her facebook she and other friends were posting on their walls addresses of folks that they knew needed more sandbagging. Way to be thinkin', huh? With all the friends they have what better way to get word out there quickly.
