Just wondering if anybody here has had the Lasik eye surgery and how you feel about it. I am seriously considering it and need some input!
Just Cheryl
I've never had it done but have known several people that have had it and have loved it!!! Those that I've talked to about it have said very little pain at all and immediate improvement. Heck, I'd go for it Vicki! Keep us posted though if you decide to have it done.

Thanks Cheryl! I will let ya know if I go through with it. I probaby will, it's just a matter of when! More than likely be after the first of the year or close to the end of the year. Thinking about taking some vacation time the last week of this year and maybe do it then. I don't know yet. But I do want to have it done. My sister had it done and still has to have her reading glasses. Seems like that defeats the purpose. Don't want to end up having to do that.

I've had it done and I love it. I wish I had it done earlier but was too chicken. As with any surgery there are risks involved. I didn't have any complications but at my last office visit one lady was having problems so it's definitely something to think about. I do know of two other people that have had it done with no problems. Good luck!

I've worn glasses since about 12 years old, and I guess I figure as long as they can fix me up with glasses, I'll stay with glasses.JMO dry.gif

My mom had it done years ago. She was very happy with it.

Hello,
I had it done in 2003. I love it. No more contacts or glasses to worry about. I do have difficulties at night and when its raining when I drive. Also, I get floaters. And for what it costs, has been repaid with what I have saved in contacts and solutions and glasses. GO FOR IT.

I had it done 4 years ago and the only regret was that I waited so long! However...as we age (some of us anyway), our "near" vision tends to change...that's the old joke about our arms getting shorter. Anyway, my vision has changed just slightly and I wear a contact (just in one eye) on days that I'm going to be doing alot of reading. I can have that eye "adjusted" for a small fee but the vision hasn't changed enough to really warrant it. I could not be more pleased with my results and have not regretted it one bit.

I had it done over 2 years ago...and while I'd like to say, I should've had it done sooner...I'm not sure the technology was as good.

I did not want to have to wear glasses at all after the surgery. My choices were to have both eyes done for reading and wear glasses to drive/distance. Get both eyes done for distance/driving...and wear glasses just to read...OR get one eye done for reading and the other for distance. They test you to see if you are a good candidate for "mono-vision".

Your dominant eye takes over for distance, so my left is reading and right is distance. I had Dr. Paul Koch. He is in the top 10 surgeons in the country for lasik surgery. (and I believe he has offices all over) While I believe he charges more than most, I knew several people who had him, and highly recommended him. I know some people who did have problems with other doctors.

My price included any "adjustments" the first year, and I did have my distance eye tweaked. No problems, other than driving at night, but it's not awful and I certainly pass a vision test to drive. I highly recommend it. My husband was more worried about the surgery than I was. (maybe he figured I wouldn't be able to see the stove after?) laugh.gif

It absolutely did not hurt. I read all the material and they gave me something to calm me before the surgery. During the surgery, it did smell a little funny, and had I not read that, it might have been scary! (like something was burning!) The worse thing for me...was no makeup for a week. But that's so you don't get an infection or poke yourself with the mascara wand! No regrets here! wink.gif

OKEY! LOOKS LIKE I AM CERTAINLY GONNA HAVE TO LOOK INTO IT. AS FAR AS I KNOW, MY INSURANCE WILL COVER ENOUGH TO TAKE CARE OF THE DOWN PAYMENT AND THEN I CAN MAKE PAYMENTS...ABOUT $60 A MONTH. TOO HARD TO RESIST! JUST IMAGINE, SOON I WILL BE ABLE TO SEE GARY EVEN BETTER!!! LOL! biggrin.gif

BTW Koch gave a discount if you work in the health care field, are a policeman, fireman, and some other related fields. They even stretched it to include personal trainers!

HEY, I WORK IN THE HEALTHCARE FIELD! THAT'S COOL! HOPE IT COUNTS. I AM A PSYCHIATRIC NURSES ASSISTANT AT A STATE HOSPITAL. WONDER IF THAT COUNTS?

I also had the Monovision done but I didn't think anyone would understand what I was talking about.

You're going to Whisky River, right? I'll be the one with only one contact lense in! (Right, like that's going to help you find me). Hope to meet you there. Gail
