Try $4.45 here folks. Anything under $4 around here would cause a riot.

$3.87 down the street. I'd better hurry up and fill my tank before it goes up again for the weekend.
My friend and I are driving to Tupelo, MS at the end of August. Might be cheaper to fly

Not sure of everyone else's experience, but ticket prices are going up in the markets we utilize and not as many flights to choose from. Areas/Airports where we need to fly others out and to us are disappearing fairly fast. Just in the last month 2 cities lost their only flight service and that significantly impacts our expenses. For us that means people will need to drive at least 3 hours to reach an airport.
The WSJ said a minimum of 100 and up to 250 cities might lose some or all of their flight services. Wonder what that will do for vacation travelers and tour performers?

Workinmanswidow... saw all of that too.
I think it is HIGHLY DOUBTFUL that we will ever see $2.99 or cheaper gas ever again -- the oil companies know that we will pay the higher prices for gasoline... so why lower the cost? I see this as a great time for us to invest in bullet line railways, etc.. - look at Eurpoe, China and Japan -- there is NO REASON that the best country in the world isn't better equiped to handle this energy crisis and we need to stop depending on these shallowminded countries. (okay, off my soapbox now!)
My dad is in the airline industry (as is half my family) but you can guarentee there are more airlines to end up shutting down operations soon (US Airways - now charging $3 for a CAN OF COKE!!!!!) Thankfully, my family works for one of the few that I think will make it - Southwest. I see them capitalizing on the bad fortune of other airlines.
Also, I live in the Bay Area in CA and we were excited that the "cheap gas station" was down to $4.21 yesterday!
