My job Interview
I am soooooo excited. The interview went very well. I have a good feeling. I'm trying not to get my hopes up but with this job that is hard to do. He said I will know something by 10:30 in the morning and if I don't hear from him by then to call him and bug him about it. lol I told him if I hadn't heard from him by 10:30.. I will be calling him at 10:31. I took some advice from another junkie and faxed him a thank you note. I'm hoping he will see that I really want this job.

When he asked me if I had any questions the only thing I could think of to ask was "are you sure I'm not on a hidden camera show?" he laughed and said "no, why do you ask that?" I told him the job just seemed too good to be true. He thought it was funny.

The details of the job....

It is Monday-Friday... 40 hours a week. Starts out at $550 an week. That is a very high paying job here in Arkansas. After 45 days it goes up to $600 a week and they back pay the other $50 a week for the first 6 weeks that I would work. That means after I have been there for 45 days I would get a bonus check for $300. After the first year I get two weeks paid vacation. They actually encourage you to go to school events for your children and even pay you when you do. It is a very laid back office... jeans and T-shirts kind of job. I have never in my life had this kind of opportunity. And get this... if I want to take classes that will benifit the company they pay for the classes.

I'm sure I'm leaving something out but I'm so excited, who can blame me for rambling.

I am so excited. I don't think I will sleep much tonight. I think I have a really good shot at it. He gave me the impression that I was in the running for the job. I don't know how many other people he interviewed. If I get the job I will start on Monday.

Thanks so much Sandy. I need all the crossed fingers I can get right now. After the first year I get two weeks paid vacation... there will be a Gary trip in there somewhere I'm sure. First I have to get me a new car. That is if I get the job.
Babygirl
I hope you get it. Good luck! smile.gif

I'm so excited for you, Shroomie! Got all my fingers crossed for you ~ sure is hard to type like this. Seriously, that he said to call him if he didn't call you by 10:30 sounds very positive. Sure sounds like they want you.

I thought the same thing... why would he tell me that if I wasn't in the running for this job? I have a good feeling. Lets just hope and pray that my intuitions are right.

Thanks so much to everyone for all the prayers and crossed fingers. Tune in tomorrow to find out if I actually got the job.

I just started a new job 3 months ago, and it was a little scary going into a new job, not knowing anyone, being the new person.

It had been wonderful ever since I started!

I wish you the best of luck, and I hope you get the job! It sounds like a terrific opportunity for you.

So, let us all know as soon as you find out!

Shroomie,

I think we are in the same time zone and it is 10:51. Where the heck are ya? Hopefully celebrating! We are all hoping you get it. Let us know!

Anything yet Shroomie?

What in the world does it take to get a good job these days? I am just heart broken. I talked to the guy a little while ago and he said they went with someone else. BUT he said that he is not 100% sure if this person will work out. So he asked if he could keep my resume on file and if this person doesn't work out could he call me.

What gets me is that he was trying to sell the job to me. Why in the hell would a person do that if they were not wanting to hire you. It is just cruel to build a person up like that. Especially since he knows I have been looking for a job for 4 months now.

I guess I will just keep on looking. I just wish I knew what else I could do to improve my chances of landing a good job.
Amyd
awww girl i am SO sorry...i will keep praying that something even BETTER comes along for you!!!!
Babygirl
Oh no! Sorry to hear that. I just knew you had it. That's just wrong to build you up like that. sad.gif
Shroomie
I don't know if I am more mad at him or at myself for getting my hopes up.
discgirlkc
So sorry to hear that. I will keep you in my prayers. I believe the right job for you is out there.

Don't be angry at yourself, we all get our hopes up at times. And it hurts when they get stomped on. But I know you will come out ok. And they should be angry at themselves, for passing up a great person.

Although I'm not feeling so great right now, thank you for your vote of confidence. It means a lot.

Who knows, maybe this other person won't work out and they will see that they hired the wrong person. I won't get my hopes up but it could happen.
virginian
$#*%!!! I'm steamed on your behalf! If the guy isn't 100% sold on this other person, then why'd he hire her?

I can only think that this experience has prepared you for something better ~ like Amyd said. You know now that you have all the qualifications to get a really good job ~ because you were a very strong candidate for this one.

More later...
ebentson
It's thier loss!!! I know what you are going through! They want you but went with someone else!? That just smokes me! (putting it in polite words!) If i were you i would continue to look for that great job that is out there waiting for you...and when this person comes crawling back wanting you back...when they could have had you in the first place, then YOU can tell them no. (this is what i did when this happend to me...now i have the job that i wanted and it turned out better for me in the long run!) Here is a HUG andwift kick of ENCOURAGMENT for you and this isn't the end of the road honey!! smile.gif

Best of luck to you! smile.gif

jszoo
I'm so sorry this job didn't work out for you--that guy truly doesn't know what he just lost!! I know the perfect job is out there somewhere for you. Keep the faith--I'll keep sending up those prayers that a job comes really soon.
#1GAIndianafan
Sorry to hear that, hope that you find something soon. You just never know what is out there around the corner, you just haven't found the right corner yet! Hang in there!!

Just want to add ~ if you can do something nice for yourself today ~ or maybe Mr. Shroomie could ~ to reward yourself because you obviously nailed the interview, you impressed the people there, you are highly qualified ~ and ready for that job that's even better than this one. So you deserve a little pampering before you prepare yourself to continue the job search.

Like everyone else, I'm sending you good thoughts and prayers that everything will work out perfectly for you.
Shroomie
Many thanks to everyone for your kind words. I'm still pretty upset and trying to not get too down. After four months of doors being shut in my face I just don't know where else to turn. I'm running out of time with my unemploymend and I really can't afford to take a minimum wage job. The day care alone would eat up anything I would make. The job market here sucks! So when something really good does come up... everyone and their dog applies for it. I'm not wishing anything bad to happen to the person who got the job, I just hope maybe they won't work out and they will call me. Is it wrong of me to feel that way?
jszoo
nothing wrong with that at all. I know how bad the job market is in lots of places. I really wish this had worked out for you--maybe it still will. Hope something happens soon for you.

I hope and pray that something better comes along real soon for you.

So you are saying is I shouldn't tamper with her breaks. lol I threw that idea around for a bit but then decided that it might now be such a great idea. tongue.gif

For those of you who know me, you know i'm just throwing around some sarcasm there. For those of you who don't know me... I would NEVER do such a thing. I'm a good person... just a little sarcastic at times. wink.gif

Thanks so much. I'm not giving up hope. I know that I will find something. It might even be that I get this job down the road. They know I want it and they know I can do the job. I'm just waiting for him to call me up and say "we should have hired you to begin with."
Vicki B.
Aww MAN!! THAT'S JUST WR angry.gif NG!!! Why on earth would someone hire someone if they aren't sure they are going to work out?! Oh My Gosh! But try not to worry too much about it Shrooms. Remember....when one door closes another one will open! So maybe soon you will have something wonderful just fall into your lap when you least expect it! Keep your chin up and remember we are all thinking about you girl! ((big hugs!))
PegMontana
Shroomie, sorry about all of this but...call the guy back in about a week. Just say you want him to remember you and that you're still interested in a job with his company. Then call him about once a month, always upbeat and positive. Keep each conversation short and by all means leave a message if you don't get to talk to him. There may be another job that gets you in and allows you to show them how lucky they are to have you and you'll be on your way UP!!!
I'm the Human Resource Admin for a large company and I can tell you that someone who shows interest and will make an effort always sticks out in a persons mind. Positive, happy and upbeat always stick out in a persons mind.
Keep looking and making calls and contacts, the right job is out there for you and that company will be lucky to get you!!!
Just Cheryl
Ahhhh, Shroomie I'm so sorry to hear you didn't get it. Don't give up though. My job I have now started the same way. They called me in outta the blue I didn't even apply for it. They actually called me at the job I had at the time. So, I went in for the interview and it went picture perfect I was sure I got it but they called a week later and went with someone else. I liked the job I was at so it was ok. Well, then almost a whole year later again out of the blue they call me at work and the Administrator said "why didn't we hire you?" right after I answered and she knew it was me. Well, come to find out I made too much money so that was why I didn't get it. Second time around they said don't care what you make we'll match it come and work for me. I've been there 11 years now and it has it's ups and downs but I knew from the minute I stepped in that office I'd be working there. Your story sounds a bit like mine, my guess is this person won't work out and you'll get the call. I'm jealous about the jeans and t's though. My boss said "well, don't you want to know how much money you're gonna make?" I said "Oh, we'll get to that but more importantly do I have to dress up?" He said "well, yeah when there are patients you need to but otherwise jeans, shorts, sweats whatever is fine" I laughed and said "I'm in".
Shroomie
There is another position at the same office that is open. It doesn't pay as well but right now I need a job. So I called today and he said he would call me back. He hasn't yet. So I will call him tomorrow and bug him again. I will continue to call him every day until he either gives me a job or tells me he is not going to hire me. lol

I'm hoping my persistence will pay off in the end. If the guy is smart he would hire me and then cross train me for the other job. That way if the other person doesn't work out I will already be somewhat trained in the position. He would save himself a lot of time and hassle if he did this.

I have an idea... I could give you all his phone number and you could all call him and tell him to hire me. Bombard him with phone calls. lol I'm sure he would give me the job just so the phone would stop ringing. tongue.gif tongue.gif
ebentson
i would call for you!!!! smile.gif good luck!!!
Babygirl
Good luck. Got my fingers crossed for ya. wink.gif
TriniGirl
GOOD LUCK, SHROOMIE. SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE GOING TO GET THE JOB.
ebentson
please keep us posted!!! I have been thinking on your adventure!!! (if you need that call.... wink.gif ) lol
Shroomie
Jason didn't call me back yesterday so I called him today. He told me that Thursday is the cut off for interivews and they hope to have picked someone by Friday.

I asked him if I could be frank with him and he said sure. So I go off into this whole explination of why he needs to hire me. I said "You need a secretary and I need a job." I also told him that It was beyond me just wanting a job and down to the wire of needing a job. That I have two kids and bills to pay. I'm serious about it and I'm doing my best to let him know that I would work hard for the company. I reminded him that he told me to call and bug him and that is what I am doing. I want my name to be in his head and I want him to know that I'm the person he needs to hire. I told him that if I were the person doing the hiring I would be more likely to hire a person that "needs" the job and not just someone who "would like to have the job". A person who needs the job is more likely to do a good job and to not leave him hanging. That it would be in his best interest to give me a chance and that he would not be disappointed. After telling him this he said "your last name is ... right?" and I said "see your remembering me already". He told me he would pull my application and resume and put it on the top of the pile because I am showing a lot of determination. I really hope he means it. I hope he is not just "being nice" to spare my feelings. I will call him again on Friday and plead my case again.

I will post an update when I know more.
