it seems to be a time for needing prayers and today i ask if you could send one more.
let me first fill you in on my strange morning.
i woke up this morning and both of my hands were so sore. they felt like they were ran over or something. it hurt just to hold my coffee cup. but i was going to be tough and go to work anyway. today i decided to wear my harley davidson t-shirt. i do not own one but my twin sister does.
at 7AM my mom called me and told me that my nephew just called her and said that my twin sister was in the hospital. there was an accident at work, somehow both of her hands were caught in a press. it happened at 1AM. she went to the hospital and the doctors wanted to rush her to another hospital but they didnt have time. (it was a huge lap in time to notify us because my twin sister and my mom both work 3rd shift - so my nephew waited to call her)
i told my mom about my hands and i think i know why they hurt now. it hurts my mom and i not to be with my sister. we both live in Connecticut and my sister lives in Arkansas.
i continued off to work and told my friends what had just happened to me. they are all fasinated with my twin experience and hope she will be ok. then all of a suddend at 11:11 (i made sure i looked at the clock) my left hand started to feel better. but my right one was still just as sore and the pain was more on top of my hand towards my wrist.
i just got off the phone with my mom and she said my sister has rods and pins in both hands. (it was a 6+ hour operation they had to take a vein from her leg) her left hand is doing fine but her right hand is not doing as good. turns out the main artery is not working properly. so as of 8pm she is back in surgery for a few more hours. if this dont work they are sending her to Little Rock. (i feel in my heart i know why my right hand hurts now)
my sister keeps appologizing to her husband and two children because they have to do things for her now. my sister is so independant i know it kills her to have someone cater to her. tomorrow is my nephew's 16th birthday and she feels bad beause he was going to have a huge party this weekend.
if you all could please pray that she (melinda) makes a full recovery from this. her dream was to be the first woman in our family to purchase a harley and it finally came true last year ~ she is the only woman to even ride! her love of harleys comes from our uncle. since we were young she wanted one. our uncle was killed by a drunk driver in his camero. ~ she is currently restoring a 1979 camero herself.
thank you all so much. do any other twins on this board experience the same feelings? can you feel your twin's pain? we are identical.. she is 7 minutes younger. i miss her so much.

I am so sorry this has happened to your twin!! As I was reading your post, I got goosebumps all over. I also have an identical twin and we have often "felt" when something was happening to the other. Once, I had an urgent need to call her in the middle of the day when we were living in different states. This was before cell phones were all the rage and I called her at home and at work and couldn't get hold of her. I found out later that she had been in a car accident at the exact same time I was trying to reach her. Everything turned out fine for her. We have had many of those experiences. I am praying that your sister recovers fully and quickly.
Hugs and prayers from a KY twin. Keep us updated

Prayers coming from MN. I'm sorry to hear about her accident. Sounds like she got great care though. Hoping for the best for her recovery. Thanks for sharing your part in the twin thing too. I've always heard about stuff like that and wondered if they really can feel it and now we know it's true and you can.

Hope your Sis gets well soon!! Sending prayers!!!
Know about the connection thing..I'm not a twin but anyone i'm close too..I can feel them..I think all wives and ex-wives know this one for example..You know when someone you love is or has been with someone else..I could always feel it when the ex was with someone..I'll never forget walking into my bedroom and nothing looked different but when i walked by the bed i got physically sick to my stomach, so sick i had to sit down on a bench in the bathroom....i knew then..needless to say first thing after movin him out was gettin a new mattress..

got find humor in it....I can tell when someone is lying to me same feelin...and if i'm really close like this guy i been seein, i can look at him and know what he's thinkin...which he's on the way out the door so it don't matter..

like i said gotta find the humor..Oh i'll never forget this one, i was makin easter eggs for church, this has been 15 years ago, and i got so worried for my brother, i got down on the floor in the kitchen prayin, the phone rings and its the HWY patrol, tellin me he had been in an accident..I got there he was fine, his grilfriend and him both had been thown from the car, they both smelled of beer, and the honda accord was totaled.. he got no ticket and they had nothing but scatches..my brother and i were always really really close till he married that witch, now we have to sneak and have lunch..he's 5 yrs younger than me, i raised him!! he's an engineer, so proud of him!! ok i'll shut up!!

thank you all so much. you all are such precious people. big hugs to each of you.
here is her update.
i called my mom at noon on my lunch break and she had just got off the phone with my sister. ~ spoke for the first time since the accident ~ so we now have the acutal info. my sister said the bar came down too early and it landed on her wrists. her fingers were never in danger. she yelled over to a man next to her for help and it took him a few minutes to react. he thought she was joking until she screamed. she said she was stuck in the machine for 2 minutes. my sister was the calm one after he got her out. she said she had to tell her coworkers what to do and who to call!
all her doctors working on her said she is a merical. they said that if she was stuck in her machine a few minutes longer she would of lost both hands. what actually happened was the weight of the machine crushed both wrists and that is where the rods and pins are. she has color in both hands now (right one is doing excellent after the second surgery) and they are warm. she can move all her fingers but it takes her a while. her drs. get all excited. :0)
she is going to Little Rock to be cared for by a specialist.
tonight my mom gave me another update and she can now scratch her own nose!! i am so happy!! :0) :0)
she was even joking around with the surgens. when they told her about removing a vein from her leg she asked if they could also take out any spider veins! ~ she is so silly~
on a different note. her son turned 16 today and she didnt want to put off his gift he has been patiently waiting for... she had his stepdad take him to get his license and he passed. WTG ty!! :0)
my mom passed on the message that i was also in pain and she said that was neat. she usually feels my pain and i dont really feel hers. a friend of mine said yesterday that i should take an advil for my pain but i told her that i dont want to miss the experience i was having. i am going to write down everything i felt and send it to her in a card so she can read it and compair what happened to me while it was happening to her. sort of a cute keepsake to share with others.
well good night everyone. thank you for the prayers.. they seem to be working!! :0)

I have a set of identical twin girls. They will be four in July. They are so close and are very protective of each other. I am very touched by stories like yours. I am so happy for my girls that they will get to experience this closeness with another human being. Only a few individuals are identical twins and get this kind of experience in life. I pray the best for your sister.
