One of her favorite flowers was the lilac so I was gonna get a lilac on the back of my neck with her name above the flower and then the date she was born and the date she passed away on the bottom? I don't have any tattoos so I'm a little worried about how it will turn out and how bad it will hurt

. Anybody have any suggestions?

My niece just had one done on her foot in memory of her grandma with a cross and flower the word Gram and the dates...very nicely done.... even tho some people always have an a negative opinion it was what she wanted and it is her memorial to her Grandma. Tatoos are a personal thing and even tho I don't have any I think if you have it drawn out like you would want it to look like it you should go for it. Good Luck and again so sorry for your loss *hugs*

IF YOU DON'T WANT THE TATOO. I HAVE SEEN CARS WITH " IN MEMORY OF ??" ON THE BACK GLASS. I THINK THEY ARE CUSTOM MADE, AND YOU COULD PUT A LILAC ON IT. I DON'T KNOW HOW BAD THEY HURT. BUT ALOT OF PEOPLE GET THEM, SO I'M THINKING IT'S NOT THAT BAD.

You do what you feel is right ,honey. If this is your way to pay tribute to your neice, then you just go for it. I myself don't have any tatoos but would love to have one!

I just recently got a tattoo above my right ankle and I love it. If you are asking if it hurts getting it done....yes it does, would I do it again if I wanted another one....absolutely.
Hope this helps.

First off I am sorry to hear of your lose.
I have 4 tatoos and I have a wrap around my ankle and that was the only one that hurt. It all depends on where you get them. I think that the neck would hurt like heck. I have 1 on my ankle - 1 calf - 1 chest - 1 other ankle.
Keep us posted on what you decide!

The bonier (if that is a word, because it doesnt look right) the area , the more it hurts. I have my lower back done, and my ankle. The back only hurt when they were on the backbone, and the ankle only hurt bad on the backside, above your heel. I love them, and to me its worth the pain. The pain doesnt last too long, and once it is healed, you can't remember how bad it hurt anyway. I say go for it. My nephew did one for my brother (his father) who dies when he was a baby. He had part of an insurance settlement from the accident that he received when he turned 18, and wanted to pay tribute to him. He has a beautiful cross on his back, that is shadowed like stone, and has a ribbon around the cross with my brothers name on it. And since he blew all of the money in less than a year of receiving it, its all he has left to show for the money.

So sorry for your loss. Like someone mentioned above.....do what YOU want to do in memory of your niece. That way you will feel like she is always with you.
I'm actually thinking about getting a tatoo on my ankle.....I want to design my own.....is that possible? I want it to look like an ankle bracelet.....with my children's, grandchildren's, and Mom's name hanging down in little hearts. I've looked at thousands of tatoo pics and none appeal to me.....so just wondering if I can design my own.
Please remember that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

My niece had one like that. It had her moms name, her brother, and her sister going around her ankel and then it went down to her foot and she had a cross. It was very pretty. My sister and my niece's mom is gonna get one like she had with Valerie's name ( my niece). You should be able to design your own. I'm gonna tell them what I want then see what they come up with and hope I like it.

I am also sorry to hear about your loss but this is a wonderful way to do this. I know that tattoos do hurt but I found that I would do deep breathing and it actually hurt ALOT less on the exhale. The pain that you do get from it for mine only lasted about a week but it is more of a ache when people would touch it. It wasn't horrible. Now the pain is gone so it doesn't even seem like it is there. The only bummer is that I can't personally see my tattoo on my back so I can't actually enjoy it unless I look in a mirror!... Although.... you can always take a picture of it!
Take your idea to the artist and feel comfortable with the artist. Be picky ahead of time, make sure they can handle the correct size of needle and ask to see the colors they will use and see if they have pics of what the color ends up looking like. I had an idea in mind for mine and the artist actually made it even cooler... at least I think so!...
Good Luck and breathe deep!!! It is only momentary to then have something that lasts for ever!

I extend my sincere sympathies, I'm so sorry for your loss. Follow your heart -- this means alot to you and that's what matters most.
My 21-yr old nephew passed 2 years ago, Mike had some tattoos of nautical stars on each of his shoulders. After he passed, alot of my family members got the same stars in various locations. Every time I see them I'm reminded of Mike and I can't help but smile... they are a beautiful tribute.
I don't have any tattoos but I keep talking myself closer-and-closer to getting one in the near future.
God Bless ... Hugs!!

If you want to do it, go for it! Yes, it will hurt, but what's a little pain?
I have a tattoo on my left shoulder blade in memory of my father. My sister has the same tattoo. We're very proud of them.
My cousin Traci has a tattoo across her lower back. It's a tribal heart design. It has a big heart in the middle, and it arches on both sides. On one side, she has her son's name, and on the other, she has the name of our niece, Katelynn. Traci raised Katelynn, and Katelynn passed away 4 years ago at age 6. On the "K" in Katelynn's name, Traci had a halo tattooed around the top part. It's a very nice tattoo, and it means a lot to her.
In my opinion, tattoos should mean something to you, and in your case, it will.
I hope you get it, and we all get to see pics of the final results.
I'm really sorry your niece didn't make it. I hope you and the entire family are doing as well as could be expected.

I have four tats. Two are just because I wanted them, One covers up a surgery scar, and the other is Gary's logo. (if you look at my profile pic, you can see it.) Depends on where you get them, they will hurt.
My arm tat didn't hurt, the one on my back to cover my sugery scar hurt like hell and the two on my legs were iffy.
I say get it. I happen to think tattoos are addictive.
Good luck hun, and once again, sorry for your loss
