Always been a fan, but went to the Kinder concert and HAD to join the fanclub! Which, by the way - is the BEST PLACE EVER!!! It's "right where I need to be!" wink.gif

Watching all of us girls talk about JUST how addicted we are .. well, it has REALLY consumed me .. Thought I would share this story with ya'll!!

My boyfriend and I go on 1 vacation per summer .. last summer we went to San Antonio (we are still new at this vacationing thing so we have been starting off small) .. well EVER since last summer I have been BEGGING him to take me to New York City. It's somewhere I have ALWAYS wanted to go .. and I almost had him - he was taking the bait!

Then I joined the fan club and hear about this FAN CLUB PARTY in Nashville, TN! He had mentioned something like a month ago about wanting to go to Nashville and I started working him yesterday .. trying to get him convinced that I will DIE if I don't get to go to his fan club party! I am tellin him I want THAT to be my vacation!

Have any ideas on how I can really win him over? He wanted to know what else there is to do in Nashville - and instead of SEARCHING I figured ya'll would be WAY more loyal and have some good places to visit!!! PLEASE HELP ME!!!

If you really want to go to Nashville, then going during Fan Fair is the time to go! Actually it is called CMA Fest now. Things go on all week beginning Monday, June 2 - Sunday, June 8. That is also when the majority of entertainers have their fan club parties. Concerts go on during the day Thur - Sun at the waterfront and at night at the Titan's stadium.Gary has a fan club party. You meet the BEST FANS of country music and attend concerts galore! Most like to stay downtown because of all the activities. I would say go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! New York is great at Christmas time, Nashville is great all year round but especially during CMA Fest! I've been waiting to hear if Gary is having a party for his fans but no news that I know of yet. I've been to his the last 2 yers and will be there again this year! Hope this helps!

All I know is that if your BF goes he will NEVER regret it!! It is SOOOO much fun. My mom and I brought my dad along last year and he thought he would hate it. Let me tell you...he was the first one to tell us we better book for next year, and we hadn't even gotten home from that trip yet smile.gif I have been trying to get my hubby to go this year, but he is being a pain. Oh well he doesn't know what he is missing...and just between you and me I probably have more fun without him anyway, lol.

There is alot to do in Nashville, any time of year. You have to have a car to get around, unlike NYC. There is great live music every night. Songwriters night is always good. There are lots of restaurants & clubs on Broadway, down by the river downtown. Just park & walk. Lots of touristy stuff. Opry Hotel is really nice, but a little pricier than than chains. I promise you will have a great time in Nashville. (But make sure you get to New York someday, it is amazing)

My friend took me 2 years ago for an early birthday present...and I am so addicted to it!! If your boyfriend likes country music, then he will LOVE it. If he doesn't, he will still love it - there are so many people and events and stuff going on that there is very little time to sleep!

I usually stay near the airport, since I have to fly - plus the hotels are cheaper and you can usually get one up until the week before. All of the hotels downtown usually sell out around a year in advance (people book for next year while they are there). Parking is usually pretty easy and there are shuttles that will take you anywhere - with the 4 day passes I think they are free.

All of the concerts have "photo lines" - where you line up for the artist you want to see and they take you down directly in front of the stage so you can get AWESOME pictures. They do not care what kind of camera you bring - just no video.

All of the bars have events - live performances all day and night. Chely Wright has a benefit concert at the Wild Horse on Tuesday.

I could go on and on and on...I think you get the point.

That sounds like so much fun!

But, don't make the same mistake I made first time I went...I thought "How lucky, I found a spot on the street"...Then, I ended up having to go back and forth all day to feed the meter...It also ended up costing me as much as just paying a parking lot!!! wink.gif

It's definately worth going...Esp. if ya go during fan fair time!!!

Plus, if ya can't afford to be "literally" right downtown...Your gonna have to drive anway; so, I'd get room a little farter out, and save some money!!!

thanks smile.gif IF we go - i think we are going to try and catch buses, street cars, taxis (whatever is available!)

It is an awesome place anytime but during cma fest it is the best. BUT hotels can be hard to book if you wait too long and the closer to downtown where cma fest is, the more expensive they are and the faster they sell out. Also, cma fest tickets themselves have already gone on sale and the gold circle tix (ones closest to the stage) are sold out. You can buy tix online at ticketmaster and you can also buy them for individual events (which usually cost more to do it that way). It is very hot but the celebrity softball game on Wed. is great to attend as well as the Chely Wright benefit at the Wildhorse on Tues night. Still waiting to hear who she'll have as guests this year, but have the tix already. I don't know of anyone who has ever attended and regretted it. Its addictive!!!

I make at least 2 trips to Nashville a year. I always stay by the airport, and book my room through priceline, I usually pay around $30.00 a night, and most of rooms have had kitchens for that price. I rent a car through priceline as well. Its a pretty easy drive from the airport area to downtown, and the car allows you the freedom to do other things. Something he might like is they do tour os the Jack Daniels Distillery and I understand its not too far away. If you decide to go, the softball tickets went on sale over a month ago. I also enjoy the CMA Celebrity Close up at the Ryman. Baileys restaurant and pool hall has great food, and its right on Broadway, the main street downtown. If you go for the Music Fest, be prepared for hot weather, a lot of walking, and very little sleep. You have to go to the Wildhorse. I usually take newbies on the Johnny Walker Tour of the Homes. Its $35.00 per person, but the tour bus takes you around to a lot of homes (no not the mans) and shows you some of the other sights in Nashville as well. I am always willing to help with info, so if you have questions, just PM me and I will do my best.
